I am not an expert on grief, I am however, an expert on MY grief.
I don’t know if I will ever ‘get it’, however, I have had many bereaved parents thanking me for writing Jessica’s Gift. Just recently, a bereaved mum who I have only met twice, rang me; she is now the support person for a newly bereaved mum. Danielle simply said, ‘I am so glad I had your book to give her’. She added, ‘your book is just so easy to read, there is no mumbo jumbo, you just say it as it is, and it helps us to not feel so alone’. Danielle who lives four hours away asked if I could possibly meet her and her newly bereaved friend. I said ‘sure’.
I’ve had a few bereaved parents contact me after reading my book - so if you want to speak with someone who knows your heartache, please reach out to me – I will listen, I will give you a virtual hug, I will give you my shoulder to cry on. I can’t change what is, but what I can do is to be here for you.
It’s horrible to be a bereaved parent and it’s horrible to be a support person – we all fumble our way through it. I hope with all my heart Jessica’s Gift might help you or your loved one in some way.
